Immigration and Settlement Support Print E-mail
  • The In-School Settlement Support Program assists newcomer students and families with their settlement needs (ie. Housing, employment, educational training, English language classes, and other issues related to settlement in a new country).
  • Program connects newly arrived families to services and resources in the school and the community in order to ease integration into Canadian society and foster student achievement.
  • Services are provided by a Settlement Practitioner from Edmonton Immigrant Services Association based in our school.
  • A systematic outreach to all newcomers.
  • Needs assessment to determine initial and ongoing needs.
  • Referral to available community services and resources based on assessed settlement needs.
  • Information and orientation on settlement-related issues and Alberta school system
  • Solution focused counseling.
